Jody Chapin ID’d as Victim in Fatal Car Accident on Interstate 20 in Hinds County
Hinds County, Mississippi (April 8, 2020) – Authorities have identified the person who died following a two-vehicle crash that happened Sunday night in Bolton as Jody Chapin, 38, of Vicksburg.
The fatal crash occurred in the westbound lane of Interstate 20 on April 5, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
The MHP said Chapin was driving a Dodge pickup truck heading westbound on Interstate 20 when he slammed into an 18-wheeler that was parked on the westbound shoulder.
The 18-wheeler driver was standing outside of his vehicle when he was struck by debris, the authorities said.
Chapin was killed in the crash.
The operator of the 18-wheeler was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. His passenger was uninjured.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
